Pork Packed Super Snacks: A Super Bowl Kick Off Party

In collaboration with the Canadian Pork Council, Canada Pork, and Algonquin College’s Business and Hospitality program, we hosted Pork-Packed Super Snacks, A Super Bowl Kick-Off Party. Algonquin’s culinary students prepared a variety of pork-based appetizers, offering guests a flavorful experience while fostering industry connections. Taking place at Algonquin’s International, this event showcased the versatility and nutritional benefits of pork.

The event welcomed local chefs, media representatives, city officials, college executives, and Ottawa community members, strengthening relationships and reinforcing the benefits of pork in a meaningful way. Highlights from the event included a chili competition featuring culturally inspired recipes, raffles, and football-themed activities.

Mary Ann Binnie, the Canadian Pork Council’s Nutrition and Food Industry Relations Manager, delivered an insightful presentation on pork’s nutritional value and its role in a balanced diet. Additionally, all surplus food was donated to Shepherds of Good Hope, a local shelter, demonstrating our and the college’s commitment to supporting the community.
